Salt air country
Why batteries die faster in Sorrento
Salt air is the reason. Airborne salt settles on terminals and works into case seals, and the corrosion it starts raises resistance at exactly the point where the battery has to deliver a few hundred amps. The same battery that runs five years inland can be down on cranking amps in three within a few streets of the water.
Anything parked outside near the coast here shows it, and boats show it first.
The fix is not a bigger battery, it's a sealed one. We steer Sorrento customers to AGM for vehicles that live outdoors, dual-purpose or proper deep-cycle for boats, and we clean and grease terminals as part of the fit rather than charging for it separately.

Battery replacement in Sorrento
Sorrento Beach sits at the end of West Coast Drive and Hillarys Boat Harbour is next door, so a lot of what we replace here isn't a car battery at all — it's the cranking battery in a trailer boat, or the deep-cycle running a sounder and a live-well, or the tow vehicle that does nothing but short runs to the ramp and back.
Salt air is the hard part. Terminals corrode faster within sight of the water, and a cranking battery asked to run electronics all day will be finished inside a season. We'd rather sell you a dual-purpose or a proper deep-cycle for the boat and a sealed AGM for the car than replace both again next summer.

Sorrento FAQ
Common Sorrento questions
Do you deliver batteries to Sorrento?
Yes. Sorrento is 43.7km from our Maddington warehouse — about 40 minutes via Tonkin Highway and Reid Highway. There's a small delivery fee outside our three 5km free zones (Canning Vale, Maddington and Fremantle), or you can collect from the counter and pay the straight warehouse price. Call 08 9451 4048 for the exact figure.
How much is a car battery in Sorrento?
It depends on the spec — a small sedan and a European AGM are a long way apart. Because we buy factory-direct there's no retail markup in the middle. Call 08 9451 4048 with your rego and you'll get a fixed number, not a range.
How do I get to your warehouse from Sorrento?
Unit 11/95-97 Kelvin Road, Maddington, WA 6109 — about 40 minutes from Sorrento, via Tonkin Highway and Reid Highway, about 43.7km. Free customer parking on site. Walk in any time we're open, get the battery and the alternator tested free, and have it fitted while you wait.
Are you open after hours if I'm stuck in Sorrento?
Open 24/7 — every day of the year — call 08 9451 4048 day or night. If you're stranded in Sorrento we'll give you a straight ETA rather than a "sometime today", and we'll come to the car.
Do you cover all of the City of Joondalup?
Yes. Sorrento is one of the City of Joondalup suburbs we run to, and we deliver across the whole council area — residential, trade and fleet. If you're on the boundary and not sure, call 08 9451 4048 with the street and we'll tell you straight away whether you're inside a free-delivery zone.
What happens to my old battery?
We take it away and recycle it, free, whether we delivered to Sorrento or you walked into the warehouse. Lead-acid is close to fully recyclable and it should never go in a bin — if you've got an old one sitting in the shed, bring it in with you and we'll take that too.
